Summary:

March of 2025 is diary in montage form, created by carrying a camera around through the entire month of March. A sequel to March of 2024, this film marks the next edition in an annual tradition by its creator. The footage showcases everyday moments, interesting adventures, and the excitement of days with big plans! All combined here into a full and immersive experience!

This film was created using a GoPro 11, and maintains its distinct visual style, staying true to its predecessor. Four separate quadrants of footage play simultaneously through the whole runtime, capturing a wide variety of moments from the same unfolding days. This approach highlights a distinct dive into its creator’s life through the patterns that become clear and shape the day-to-day. It becomes easier to dwell on the simple parts of life that are often forgotten through this viewing experience.

At its core, March of 2025 encourages the viewer to reflect on each aspect of their own lives and better appreciate the fleeting moments often lost without a second thought.

Director’s Statement:

Originally, March of 2024 was created as a personalized version of a school assignment that I wanted to go above and beyond in creating. While going through the process of that first film, I came to deeply enjoy the act of documenting my life. Since its completion, I’ve revisited the film many times, pleased with the dive into my life that it captures. Through this reflection, I was inspired to continue the project annually, and so when March came around again, I pulled out the camera to begin creating March of 2025!

I wanted to remain consistent with the format, keeping the four sections of footage playing at once the same. I feel this structure serves as a reminder of how full single days can be, and how much variety life can truly hold. The overlapping footage can again feel slightly overwhelming at times, and it is easy to miss smaller details with only a single watch-through. This is purposeful and mirrors how life can be the same way more often than we realize.

With this sequel, the film takes on an added purpose as a whole. It becomes a direct comparison to the previous year, offering a glimpse into how my life has changed and progressed. Seeing familiar faces, revisiting certain places, and experiencing reoccurring events shows even more intensely what is most important in my life.

Creating this film was again a rewarding process, even more so as many of the people around me remembered the first and were enthusiastic to participate again. I was so eager to include my friends, exciting events, and the like, that it gave a newfound purpose to everything I was doing throughout the month. Anything I did also contributed to this film and would be cemented in a way that I could look back at for the rest of my life.

I’m thrilled at the prospect of continuing this tradition annually. I can’t begin to imagine how much will change or stay the same in the years to come!
